Async

We use the following tools for communication:

  1. Telegram - For B Progs, it is important that we are part of the following group chats:
    • Buri Programmers - main group chat for all B Progs wide communication
    • Buri Work - main group chat for Buri wide communication
    • Buri Non-Work - group chat for non-official discussions
    • Maikkorona Availability Bot - group chat for timing in/out using the “Maikkorona Availability TimeBot Revamped” (https://t.me/maikkorona_time_bot)
  2. Phabricator - issue tracking platform
  3. Mattermost - experimental issue tracking and project management platform
  4. Email - mostly used for notifications from integrated services (Google Docs, Phabricator, Mattermost, Cloudflare, Sendgrid, Helixpay, etc.)

Meetings

Given the remote setup of Buri, Discord is the weapon of choice for meetings, which are usually done online.

Occasionally, meetings are done offline, or face-to-face. These meetings must be announced beforehand, to inform participants regarding the time and venue of the meeting.

1-on-1’s

These meetings involve only two (2) people. 1-on-1’s are usually done between a manager and a report.

B UI

B UI meetings are held to discuss matters regarding UI/UX details of a specific project or feature.

Participants of B UI meetings are members of the B UI team and other engineering team members who have specific tasks related to projects that are scheduled for the next cycle.

B UI meetings are scheduled when necessary, usually on a Wednesday, 11:00 UTC+08:00 (11:00 A.M. Asia/Manila or Tuesday 9:00 P.M. MDT, or 10:00 P.M. MST NA/Calgary).

Weekly Pulong

Weekly Pulongs are held to give all members of the team general updates regarding the different projects, tasks, and activities of the B Progs team. These meetings also give an opportunity for each member to share non-work related highlights of their week.

Everyone from the Engineering team must attend the Weekly Pulongs. Weekly Pulongs occur every Wednesday, 14:00 UTC+08:00 (2:00 P.M. Asia/Manila, 12:00 A.M. MDT, or 1:00 A.M. MST NA/Calgary)

Breakout Discussions

Breakout Discussions are held after every Weekly Pulong, when necessary. These meetings are initiated and led by Team Leaders, who may announce them during the Weekly Pulong. These meetings give an opportunity to discuss details of a specific project. Only the responsible members, or members of who are involved with the specific project, are the expected participants of the Breakout Discussions.
